Harvesting your Mason bee cocoons is one of the most important steps you can take to protect next year’s bee population. Opening your filled reeds or trays each fall lets you remove pests, clean cocoons, and separate the healthy ones so they can overwinter safely and emerge strong in the spring. Harvesting not only safeguards your own bees, but it also gives you the chance to share extra cocoons with friends, neighbors, or community gardens to help grow local populations.
