How to Set Up and Use Your First Bee House
The Wild Bee Adventure is the perfect way to begin your solitary bee journey. This compact bee house invites a variety of native cavity-nesting bees to explore, nest, and reveal what species are already living in your backyard.
Because it includes a mix of tube sizes and materials — reusable BeeTubes and natural reeds — you’ll get to observe which nesting options your local bees prefer. Simply hang it up, insert the tubes, and wait for nature’s guests to move in.

How to Set It Up
- Select a location that faces south to southeast. Morning sun helps bees warm up so they can begin flying.
- Provide afternoon shade in hot regions where temperatures exceed 90°F/32°C.
- Install on a sturdy fence, wall, or post about 5 feet (1.5m) off the ground. This height protects from predators and lets you easily observe bee activity.
- Place the bee house within 300 feet (100 meters) of flowering plants.
- Position away from birdhouses and bird feeders to reduce predation.
- Hang using a screw or nail through the keyhole slot on the back of the house.
