Our projected plan for the Analysis phase is to determine bee and wasp candidates for future food pollination and their ability to be managed.
Of the estimated 1,000 hole-nesting bees across North America, we will focus on bees that are generalists, have lower dispersal rates, and a natural nest building material that is easy to provide in their natural ranges.
Ecoregions of North America
Each bee species has a vital role to play in their ecosystems, but funding and other restrictions may only allow for the Analysis phase to focus on 2-5 bee species in each ecoregion. Crown Bees intends to reach out to each participant that observed bees and wasps repeatedly return to nest. We will ask you to send a portion of your reeds to participating local land grant universities.
Data analysis of the bees and wasps who reliably returned to nest will occur before field trials and experiments begin. The field trials will determine best management practices to improve success during the Propagation phase.
