Q. Should I wait for the rain to pass when releasing bees?
Mason bees are able to fly in light rainy weather and if you expect a sprinkle you can still release the bees for emergence.
Mixed rainy and sunny days are great environments for your bees. A week-long storm or cold snap can kill emerged bees because adult bees are fueled by nectar. If the nectar is washed from the flowers or no nectar is produced due to very cold weather, your bees can starve.
We recommend that you release bee cocoons in the late evening or early morning.
